Student Leadership

Purpose: To help promote our motto, Respectful, Safe, and Kind, a Student Leadership Team comprised of 4th graders works to address topics such as school culture, community responsibility, and individual responsibility. Members of the team serve as positive role models and have opportunities to be leaders in the school through assemblies, community service, and other activities within our building.

Process: Interested 4th graders may nominate themselves, and all candidates will write short “campaign speech” about ways that they could help improve PES as a student leader. Teachers give students support in their campaign and speech writing. Speeches and elections usually take place in October.

Examples: Past Student Leadership Team initiatives have included: PBIS rollouts of behavior expectations, Thanksgiving "give thanks" wall, classroom door decorating contest, holiday hallway decorating challenge, and a food drive.

Logistics: The Student Leadership Team meets during lunch and occasionally recess time to discuss and plan events and initiatives. Mrs. Dunn and Mrs. Lavoie help facilitate the Student Leadership Team meetings.
